Backyard Hangs with the Locals

Last November I went to New Orleans for the first time. Lucky for me, I have awesome friends that live in cool places. Laura Jean was out of town for work and said we could crash at her house in exchange for watching her cats. Done! I had no idea we were going to experience NOLA’s one and the only motorcycle inspired Air BnB.

We stayed in the Uptown Crashpad. The loft was built in 1910 and renovated over the last couple years. The space was vast and comfortable. Complete with a claw foot tub and all the modern creature comforts, I could live here.

Chill Area

Out the back door, there was a common area with firepit, moto-inspired decor with a New Orleans flavor. There is also a garage to wrench on your motorcycle. A couple doors down construction on the StarBike Cafe started. We stayed 4 nights, the location was close to everything. We could walk a couple blocks up and catch the bus downtown. We ended up taking mostly Ubers cause of the heat.

The moto gods again shined on us after talking to the owner Amanda of the guest quarters. The biggest moto show in New Orleans was happening the next day. Moteaux happens the first weekend of November. We made our way to the Urban South Brewery, had a couple beers, looked at cool bikes and drank a couple beers with Amanda.

Our 5 days in New Orleans went to quick. Thanks, Amanda and StarBike for an excellent stay. I highly suggest if you go to the Big Easy you check out this special corner.
